Mercurial Vapor IV is the…fifth model of Nike's most popular soccer shoes line that started 10 years ago, in February of 1998.

Why fifth? We can't forget about the Vapor SL, can we?

Unless we assume the Vapors SL are the higher-end version of the Vapors IV. The appearance of these two are similar, both of them were released almost at the same time, therefore, maybe the Vapor IV is…the fourth model, only with the upgraded version - the Vapor SL.

But if that's the case, shouldn't the SLs be called…
…Mercurial Vapor IV SL?
Well, who cares. It doesn't really matter that much. What matters is that we have two new models of soccer boots.

Description

UPPER:

• Teijin - Top Super-Microfiber material; soft, ultra-lightweight, very durable and with capability of adjusting to the foot's shape.
• Glass Fiber Heel Wrap - an injected TPU heel wrap with glass-fibre insert...wraps the bottom part of the heel, stabilizing and protecting it.
• Stitched stretch lace cover

• Vapor Heel Lock - exposed heel cup, reduced and positioned more laterally than in the MV III; It locks the heel securely in the boot for maximum fit, balance and protection.
• Speed Last - re-engineered contoured last mirrors and supports the anatomical curves of your foot.
• Contoured sock-liner with EVA inserts reduces studs pressure.

• Internal Chassis made from a dual compound of carbon fiber and glass-reinforced nylon to transfer energy directly to the cleats.
• Vapor Traction - two-piece TPU plate with direct inject bladed studs in the heel and Vapor forefoot plate with multi-directional traction pattern.
