Reviews
I have only listed these Puma soccer cleats that I believe the best represent a variety of options for you. As you’ll probably notice, I have skipped the most expensive of all the Puma soccer cleats…Cellerator Zero 5 Gci.
I am really not a fan of artificial soccer cleats. I know they are made of very sophisticated microfiber material that make soccer cleats very lightweight, therefore comfortable…but not for $180! In my opinion, it is way too much. You’ll be better of buying Nike cleats made of similar material for much less money.
Kangaroo Leather
Puma Cellerator Zero 4 K
UPPER (top part of a shoe):
Kangaroo Leather – it provides an excellent fit and touch on the ball.
PowerFrame – a special microfiber stripe-shaped material placed over primary upper material from the bottom of the heel to the top of the foot and down towards toes area. This construction locks the foot like a seatbelt, providing a tight and comfortable fit. It also minimizes the effect of vibration and recoil caused by the impact between foot and ball.
External Heel Counter - all shoes have a heel counter or counter reinforcement. The good, hard ones use a plastic, TR (thermoplastic resin), TPU or nylon material remolded to fit the heel of last. The purpose of the heel counter is to provide support and ensure good fit. An external heel counter does the same thing, but it is on the outside of the heel.
MIDSOLE (inside part of a shoe):
e+Cell System – a special Puma technology that substitutes foam materials. It is a special moccasin construction designed to ensure cushioning, stability and durability over the life of the shoe.
Puma Tuning Chassis (PTC) – a removable clip that allows a player to adjust a level of stability and support required, depending on a surface, field conditions and physical attributes of the player. By leaving the PTC clip on, the mid-foot area will be more stable and supported. By removing the clip, the corresponding area will become more flexible and soft.
Ground Control – stud configuration design that evenly distributes pressure and improves traction. The forefoot double-headed studs enhance overall maneuverability. The anatomically shaped heel smoothes running and is supported by laterally positioned heel studs, creating a stable platform and reducing the risk of injury.
DuoFlex – technology that provides superior outsole flexibility, which mirrors and supports the foot's natural movement (couple tiny grooves across forefoot area).
Available for FG only – firm and natural grounds
List price: $140
Tip ! The combination of the PUMA Tuning Chassis, the integrated PowerFrame construction, and the External Heel Counter provides optimal stability and support, while keeping your kicking stamina at a constant competitive level.
Also the Kangaroo leather and Ground Control with DuoFlex make these Puma soccer cleats extremely comfortable and definitely one of the best of Puma soccer cleats.
MIDSOLE:
I am sorry, but I couldn’t find any details about midsole for these Puma soccer cleats (and believe me, I’ve searched everywhere).
But I am pretty sure that midsole material must be as good as in other Puma soccer cleats.
DuoFlex technology - couple tiny grooves across the forefoot area that provide superior outsole flexibility.
Available for FG only
SG (soft ground) version is available as a Puma King Exec (without “I”). However these cleats are not made of Kangaroo Leather but Full-grain instead (like any other Puma soccer cleats for soft ground).
List price: $120
Tip ! Very comfortable soccer cleats. Their construction is based on a sprint spike shoe, which means an extreme all over snug fit without deforming the toes.
This is your only option, if you are looking for Puma soccer cleats with off-center laces and blade-shaped cleats.
Griptex (another microfiber material) ankle lining for comfort
MIDSOLE: Again no info, sorry
OUTSOLE:
Lightweight injected PU (Polyurethane) with circular molded studs
List price: $110
Tip ! The name says it all. Classic “look” and classic technology. The most universal soccer cleats (just like Adidas Copa Mundial). You can use them on hard, natural surfaces as well as on firm grounds.
Pittards Puma-Lite Leather is used in soccer cleats, as alternative kangaroo leather.
OUTSOLE:
The new customizable plate with removable and molded studs
List price: $110
Tip ! Very unique concept makes these cleats effective on both, firm and soft grounds. With six molded cleats and six removable, you could adjust these soccer cleats to the current surface conditions as well as your specific preferences.
This is a great choice, if you play soccer on several different field conditions (soft, firm, wet, dry etc.).
Pittards Puma-Lite Leather – alternative to kangaroo leather.
OUTSOLE:
Lightweight injected PU (Polyurethane)
Ground Control - double-headed studs configuration that evenly distributes pressure and improves traction.
DuoFlex technology - couple tiny grooves across forefoot area that provide superior outsole flexibility.
List price: $110
Tip ! These cleats are good for use on firm and hard, natural surfaces.
Do you like Puma King’s classic look?
Do you also believe that new soccer shoe’s technologies (i.e. Ground Control, DuoFlex) increase comfort and enhance your performance?
If you do, then I would highly recommend these Puma soccer cleats.
DuoFlex technology - couple tiny grooves across forefoot area that provide superior outsole flexibility.
Available for all type of surfaces:
HG-Hard ground, FG-Firm and SG-Soft (replaceable studs)
Although HG available only in “TT” version (for natural, hard grounds and artificial turf).
List price: $50
Tip ! Smart choice for those who can’t afford Kangaroo or Pittards leather cleats.
Ground Control – double-headed studs configuration that evenly distributes pressure and improves traction.
DuoFlex - couple tiny grooves across forefoot area that provide superior outsole flexibility.
Available for FG (firm ground) and SG (soft ground)
List price: $ 80
Tip ! I consider these cleats as a Full-grain Leather version of Puma Cellerator Zero 4 K. They have all the same features (with exception of Puma Tuning Chassis).
So again, if you prefer Puma soccer cleats with all new technologies and really like Cellerator Zero 4 K but simply can’t afford Kangaroo Leather cleats, I think this could be your best choice.
