Nike Soccer Cleats Recommendations, Reviews and Tips
Which of the Nike Soccer Cleats should you buy?
I can’t give you a straightforward answer.
It all depends how serious of a player you are, what level of soccer you play, your age and also…how much money you (or your parents) can spend.
So, the decision is yours. I just want to assist you in making this decision .
The right decision… …adequate to your needs and preferences.
Released in 2006, first edition of Air Legends is still available in stores and on Ebay (as of August 2008) for discounted prices, as well as less expensive version Nike Tiempo Mystic.
There are two versions of these Nike soccer cleats:
The special, limited edition (only 2000 pairs), designed primarily for Cristiano Ronaldo and Didier Drogba.
They are almost entirely made of Carbon Fiber and are the lightest soccer cleats ever (6.7oz. - 190 grams) and one of the most expensive soccer cleats ever - $400 (crazy).
The second version, which I call 'a public edition' is the combination of SL's outsole (carbon fiber) and Vapor IV's midsole and upper (Teijin microfiber).
Released: May 2008.
Upper: Teijin Microfiber.
Outsole: 7 layer carbon composite with bladed studs.
The next model of Mercurial Talaria line. I would like to say these boots are 'the less expensive version of Mercurial Vapor IV' but without lace cover they really don't look like Vapors IV.
Released: February 2008.
Upper: KNG-75 Microfiber.
Outsole: Split TPU plates with multi-direction bladed studs.
Released in 2006, Mercurial Vapor III are still available in stores and on Ebay (as of August 2008) for discounted prices, as well as less expensive versions Nike Talaria III and Nike Steam.
Released in 2007, Total 90 Laser are still available in stores and on Ebay (as of August 2008) for discounted prices, as well as less expensive versions Nike Total 90 Strike and Total 90 Shoot.
I know...it's a long list. But actually it only seems like it.
There are just three different series of Nike soccer cleats. Every series has one leading model followed by two, three less expensive versions. Also there is usually a choice of the prior edition of the leading model.
By the way, very smart choice in my opinion (much lower cost for these 'descending' models of Nike soccer cleats).
There are many factors to consider while selecting soccer cleats. But if you already narrow your option to Nike soccer cleats, understand which outsole type will suits you the best and know the size you need to get, the only thing to contemplate is which shoes are the most adequate for the level of soccer you play.
Basically, the higher level the better cleats you should have.
Every single soccer boot has my recommendation for what level of play it would be the most proper for.
Remember, it's not a strict rule. It's just my suggestion.
But if money is not a subject, forget about it. The high-end soccer cleats won't hurt anybody, not even beginners.
What about the material of uppers?
Well, nowadays the choice, which cleats are better, the one made of true leather or the synthetic one, has become more as everyone's own preference.
Today's technologies let create high quality synthetics (microfiber) that in some cases are as good as true leather. I still don't like synthetic soccer shoes, especially those made of low-grade, cheap artificial material.
